Where krystalkote is used

• Basements, lift pits and below-ground structures
• Water-retaining structures and reservoirs
• Concrete subject to hydrostatic pressure from the negative side
• Structures where a surface membrane cannot be maintained

Note on quantities. Consumption varies significantly with the application method — brush, dry sprinkle to lean concrete, or dry sprinkle after initial set all use different rates. Settle the method before working out quantities, and confirm against the current a.b.e. data sheet.

Before you specify it

• The concrete surface must be clean and free of laitance, oil, grease, curing agents and foreign matter.
• Where the surface is too smooth or heavily contaminated, sand blast or acid etch before treatment.
• Visible cracks over 0.4 mm must be routed out, and honeycombed pockets cut back to roughly 40 mm deep and 25 mm wide, then filled with a stiff krystalkote mortar.
• Crystalline waterproofing works with the concrete, not over it — a poor or cracked substrate will not be rescued by it.
• Do not exceed 5 mm in a single application.
• The full system must follow the current a.b.e. technical specification.
