Note on quantities. Repair mortar quantities depend on the depth and volume of the breakout rather than surface area alone. Confirm quantities against the current a.b.e. technical data sheet, and allow for over-break.
Before you specify it
- Break out all loose, delaminated and carbonated concrete to a sound substrate before repair.
- Exposed reinforcement must be cleaned and primed before the repair mortar is placed — this step is the most common reason concrete repairs fail.
- Full bags only — part-bag mixing changes the water ratio and compromises the mortar.
- The repair must be cured properly; premature drying causes shrinkage cracking.
- The full system must follow the current a.b.e. technical specification.
