Finfloor's range spans entry-level laminate through to premium glue-down LVT, and the price per square metre varies significantly across that range. Here's what actually determines what your floor will cost.
1. Product Range and AC Rating
Entry-level laminate (like AGT Bella Neo, AC3) costs less than a higher AC-rated laminate (Parador or Black Forest Plus, AC5), which in turn is priced differently to SPC ranges like Diamond Core SPC+ or Sapphire SPC Wide. Glue-down LVT ranges such as Aurora II and Galaxy II sit in their own price bracket again. Comparing a generic "vinyl flooring price" without specifying the range isn't a meaningful comparison.
2. Installation Method
Click-lock floating installations (most laminate and SPC) are generally quicker and more affordable to install than glue-down LVT, which requires full substrate preparation and adhesive application — this affects labour cost even before material cost is considered.
3. Mandatory Accessories for SPC
SPC ranges require an HDPE moisture-barrier underlay as part of the warranted system — this isn't optional, so it should be included in any accurate cost estimate for an SPC floor, not treated as an add-on.
4. Underlay and Substrate Prep
Underlay selection affects both cost and comfort/acoustic performance. If the existing subfloor isn't flat, dry, and sound, substrate preparation may be needed before installation — this is a separate cost that depends entirely on the condition of what's already there.
5. Profiles, Skirtings, and Finishing
Transition profiles, skirtings, and finishing details complete the installation and are priced separately from the main flooring material. Larger or more complex layouts (multiple rooms, doorways, level changes) need more of these than a single open room.
6. Total Area
As with most flooring types, larger continuous areas are generally more cost-effective per square metre than small, broken-up spaces with more cutting and fitting involved.
