"How much does epoxy flooring cost per square metre in Botswana?" is one of the most common questions we get — and it's also one of the hardest to answer with a single number. A generic online price list won't reflect your actual floor, because the same square metre can cost very differently depending on a handful of specific factors. Here's what actually drives the price.
1. Substrate Condition
A sound, level, properly cured concrete slab is the cheapest starting point. A slab with cracks, contamination, moisture issues, or an uneven surface needs preparation and repair work — using products like Solidscreed 90/400 or a bonding agent such as Solidkote 110 — before any resin system can go down. Substrate repair is frequently the biggest variable in total project cost, not the resin itself.
2. System Type and Thickness
A thin-film water-based epoxy coating (like Solidkote WB Epoxy) costs less per square metre than a self-levelling epoxy system (Solidflow SL 1000), which in turn costs less than a heavy-duty polyurethane screed (Polyscreed MD or HF, applied at 4–10mm). Thicker, higher-performance systems cost more in material and labour, but are specified for a reason — usually heavier traffic, chemical exposure, or impact resistance.
3. Specialist Requirements
ESD/antistatic flooring, chemical-resistant systems (Solidguard HCP, PUR), and specialist made-to-order linings involve specific products and application methods, and are priced accordingly. If your project has a specific compliance or performance requirement, mention it upfront — it materially changes the recommended system and the price.
4. Total Area and Access
Larger continuous areas are generally more cost-effective per square metre than small, broken-up, or hard-to-access spaces. Site access, working hours, and whether the area needs to stay operational during installation also affect labour cost.
5. Finish and Colour
Decorative quartz-broadcast finishes (Solidflow Quartz, Polyscreed Quartz) and custom colours typically cost more than a standard single-colour coating, due to the additional material and application steps involved.
