What CreteCote Is Best For
CreteCote is a pigmented, thin-film cement-based coating applied in a two-coat system to achieve a smooth 1.6mm decorative finish. It's suited to floors, walls, and ceilings where the underlying surface — a wood or steel-floated concrete slab, screed, or plastered wall — is structurally sound and just needs a decorative, coloured finish. Because it's a coating rather than a resurfacing system, CreteCote isn't designed to repair or disguise structural issues in the substrate.
What RenoCrete Is Best For
RenoCrete is a pre-coloured, two-part polymer-modified cement resurfacing system applied by spray or trowel. It's designed specifically to resurface and decorate existing concrete surfaces — floors, pavements, walkways, patios, pool surrounds, and balconies — giving good compressive, tensile, and flexural strength with reasonable abrasion resistance. If your existing concrete has some wear or texture you want to refresh (while the structural integrity is still sound), RenoCrete is generally the better starting point.
The Key Difference
CreteCote is a decorative coating for surfaces that are already in good condition. RenoCrete is a resurfacing system for surfaces that need to be refreshed as well as decorated. If you're not sure which category your project falls into, that's exactly the kind of thing worth having assessed before choosing a product — applying the wrong system to the wrong substrate condition is one of the most common causes of early failure in decorative cement work.
Application Method
RenoCrete's spray application produces a textured knock-down finish, while trowelled application gives a smoother result — giving some flexibility in the final look. CreteCote's two-coat application is more standardised toward a consistent smooth finish.
Both Need Sealing
Neither system is complete without an appropriate Cemcrete sealer. Sealing protects against staining and wear and affects the final sheen — this isn't optional for either product on a floor application.
